What is Snap?

Snap is a unique festival and creative retreat aimed at wedding and lifestyle photographers. It features an array of inspiring workshops and activities which will inspire you and push you to level up your business.

There are talks, shoots, trips to the beach and wanders in the forest – loads of great stuff to stimulate your mind and stretch your imagination. You can check out our 2016 schedule here and our class descriptions here

Oh, and there's a kickass closing party where dance-offs are encouraged and shape throwing is mandatory.   We also have a live music night where you can hang by the fire and watch live performances.

You can read a little write up about SNAP 2015 here, including feedback from speakers and our SNAPsters and here's our 2016 line up.

As much as the workshops are inspiring, useful and educational, SNAP is just as much about the experience you have while you're there. This little film by SNAPster Rene shows his experience of SNAP 2015.

When?

18th - 22nd April 2016

Where?

SNAP 2015 takes place at Fforest Farm, Cwmplysgog, Cilgerran, Cardigan, Wales, SA43 2TB, UK.

Fforest is a magical place. It's the result of a dream, the desire to remember what 'simple' really feels like. It combines the life enhancing sensation of simple outdoor living with the luxury of a gorgeous setting. An understated design ethos finds its way into everything.

It's about creativity and community – forging new friendships and allowing old ones to flourish. We think it's the perfect place for the Snap photography festival.

How will classes work?

Each class will be around 2.5 - 3 hours and we aim to make the classes as practical as possible. Snap is not a conference where you'll sit and listen to people talk for three days. We want your teachers to show, tell and share and we want you to get out and about shooting.

Ditching the odd class is encouraged; exploring the beautiful surroundings, hanging out around the camp fire and chatting, shoot swaps and trips to the beach will all be of as much benefit as the classes themselves. The in-between is often where the magic happens. There will also be activities from wild swimming to yoga, so you'll have a chance to decompress from your every day life and get your SNAP on.

The 2016 schedule will be announced shortly.

Do you have to be a professional photographer to attend?

Not at all. You'll probably get the most out of the event if you have an interest in wedding photography, as the majority of our speakers are professional wedding photographers.

All of our speakers have been selected for their unique approaches to their work and they will all be speaking about their passions and motivations, so there'll be stuff you can learn from each of them.

We do recommend that in order to attend you'll have a good knowledge and understanding of what ever camera equipment you are working with, as well a good grounding in photography.

There will not be any instruction that covers basic technical skills.

How many people will be attending?

SNAP is all about community and because of this we will be limiting capacity to 130 including our speakers.

Can I share with friends?

Sure. We contact everyone who's attending before we allocate sleeping spaces, so you have the chance to let us know who you'd prefer to snooze with.

If you don't have a group, we'll allocate you some friends you haven't met yet. Of course, we'll accommodate you if you'd prefer to share only with people of the same sex.

Sounds like fun. Whose bright idea was it?

Laura Babb of Babb Photo is the brains behind Snap. She'll be working with a crack team, including the organisational tour de force that is Alexandra Merri from The Bijou Bride. Alexandra will be heading up the logistical side of things. You can contact Laura on snapphotofestival at gmail dot com and Alexandra can be contacted on snaplogistics at gmail dot com.
