Introducing The Freelancer Club
Today we're really excited to welcome The Freelancer Club to the SNAP family.
80% of self employed freelancers fail within the first 18 months of their career so having support networks in place to make sure that the work keeps rolling in, as well as to get the advice and mentoring you need to grow your business is crucial. That's one of the main reasons that we set up SNAP in the first place, so when we heard about The Freelancer Club we knew their ethos would be a great fit with our own.
The Freelancer Club is a Members Club for creative talent in need of support, industry contacts, business development and access to ongoing paid freelance work. They offer a space to network, collaborate and feel a part of a community and they've also been instrumental in getting us all to value our work with their #NOFREEWORK campaign.
Matt Dowling and Nina Malone, two ex-freelancers with over 20 years in the industry, set up The Freelancer Club as they wanted to share their experience. Both learned how to run a business through their own mistakes but not without the scars to prove it.
Matt, in particular, was a victim of his own naivety when a large company exploited him for £11,000, resulting in financial hardship and debt that almost ended his freelance career. Luckily for Matt a newspaper to heard about his story and wrote a piece about him and the resulting exposure presented him with opportunities that allowed him to build up his business again.
The Freelancer Club was launched to combat such situations by providing business support to creative individuals who lack access to mentors, legal documents and information about protecting their interests. In addition members can promote their services, collaborate with others, access a full jobs board with paid work as well as attending business Masterclasses and networking events.
