SNAP 2019: Rafał Bojar
Introducing our 2019 speakers through their own words and work. This week, we will be sharing with you Rafał Bojar’s unique eye and sensitivity.
Hi Rafał, tell us a little bit about you:
I have been shooting for almost 5 years now. I really care about some of the people I photograph. About people who cares about others, who want to create something meaningful, who want to share their own life experiences. I consider myself a storyteller. People hire me to write their biographies and instead of using words I create photos and videos, trying to tell their stories with all their experiences, personal items and everything that is important somehow to them.
Does this shoot / work have a title? If so, what is it?
Every frame a painting.
Tell us about the shoot.
I created this session during one of my masterclass workshop. The idea behind the ‘One. Story. Hero.’ workshop is to share my experience of how you can capture people’s real soul. This project is all about human connection.
Did you do any planning before hand?
Yes, I looked for an interesting apartment for this session. My main focus were both available light and a retro style. I also decided to do a 2nd part of this story on a rooftop.
Did you try anything new?
Yes, I tried to shoot using led lights after sunset. It turned out that you can be very creative with them.
Did you learn anything from failure or mistakes?
There are no failures when you try to be creative. I call them attempts.
What do you think you achieved with this shoot?
I just told a simple but beautifully emotional story.
